If you have ever wanted to know what life is like for a career firefighter then this class if for you!
The Citizens Fire Academy is designed to give a behind the scene look at what we do on a daily basis. We are your fire department! Come learn about how we operate and how we are prepared to protect you if the need ever arises!
The Citizens Fire Academy is an eight week academy that begins August 24th, 2023 and will be held on Thursday nights from 6 - 9 PM at Fire Station 1 located at 1980 Delaware Crossing.
Light meals/refreshments will be provided each night.

Requirments
Each student must be 18 years of age. Preference will be given to those students that live or work within the boundaries of the Independence Fire District. There is NO LIMIT on age! We strongly support our Senior Citizens to take part in this great opportunity!
Each student must submit a completed application. In addition to class attendance, all students will be given an opportunity to complete a four hour ride-a-long with on duty fire crews. Students must be free of felony convictions and agree to a background investigation. Instruction material is sensitive in nature, therefore confidentiality is a must.
